As Real Salt Lake head down to Tucson, AZ for the Desert Diamond Cup, what should our expectations for the squad be? Jeff Cassar mentioned that the first camp in Casa Grande was about focusing on the team’s defense, as it has been in years past. This last stint in California was more focused on attacking. And in the Q&A session this last Saturday at Rio Tinto Coach Cassar stated that now, in Tucson, it’s about bringing those two things together.
This is what I want to see: Quick transitions from the defense to the attack through midfield possession.
That is how we make our money as a team. Bread and butter if you will. There aren’t a lot of new pieces in the squad, so getting back to what we know we can do should be simple enough. The true test is going to be what happens when some of the new, younger and less experienced guys, get a chance on the field.
All of the games at the DDC will be streamed, and we’ll be watching. Look for match reports and commentary here at the North Bank.
