Rimando, Beckerman Called Up For USMNT Friendlies

Jürgen Klinnsmann has announced his 22-player squad for upcoming friendlies against Netherlands and Germany.

Nick Rimando and Kyle Beckerman will both be a part of the USMNT roster. With the two on international duty on June 5 (Netherlands) and June 10 (Germany) this puts the team in a bind, as to who could replace both players for their match-up against the Colorado Rapids on June 7th.

Looking at the roster, either Lalo Fernandez or Jeff Attinella would be able to fill in. But at this point in time, backup ‘keeper Jeff Attinella could get a start against the Rapids in a very crucial match as both teams are looking to end a two-game losing streak.

A RSL win could vault them back into playoff contention, it just so happens to be bad timing with players out on international duty.

As for replacing Kyle Beckerman, it could be a joint effort between John Stertzer and Wellington Paeckeart as both have been getting more playing time. The Whitecaps game saw Stertzer start alongside Beckerman.

With that being said, this one would be easier to predict, since you could swap Beckerman with Paeckeart and feature a midfield group consisting of Stertzer, Paeckeart and Morales.

Whatever the starting XI will be for Jeff Cassar, it hurts his squad’s chances of getting a win in a match-up where they need three crucial points to stay in the hunt for a top six playoff spot in the brutal Western Conference.
