Diego Luna scored his seventh goal of the season in a crucial moment during Real Salt Lake's 1-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes. He proved his growth and dedication to the game with his goal in the 78th minute.

In a post-match statement, Luna gave his thoughts on the hard road that brought him to these achievements:
"The work I've put in throughout my youth career and in my life to reach Major League Soccer has been relentless. To be able to say I'm an MLS All-Star at 20 years old is surreal... It sums up everything I've worked on at El Paso, at Barca."

Luna started his first professional contract with El Paso Locomotive in 202, It was the beginning of something great. His time there was essential in molding his thinking and preparing him for larger stages. Scoring the winning goal for El Paso only two months after signing a deal was a hint of things to come.

A major turning point in Luna's career came with his transfer to Real Salt Lake in June 2022. The transfer to MLS came with expectations, but he accepted the task with passion. His debut for RSL in the same month was the first of many memorable moments, but it was his first goal for the club on June 21, 2023, that fixed his place as an important player. Luna has now scored seven goals this season and counting, solidifying his place in RSL's offense.

Luna has always credited his early career development, whether at El Paso or Barca, for setting the foundation. "Everything I did at El Paso and Barcelona Residency Academy taught me the discipline and mindset needed to succeed," Luna said. His rise to MLS All-Star status in July 2024 further proves his efforts and growth.

"The goal was a team effort, from Braian Ojeda’s pass to the defensive work of Zac MacMath," Luna noted after the San Jose game. He understands that while the spotlight may shine on his strike, it is the collective contributions that push RSL forward.

However, the journey is far from over. Luna, now a regular in Real Salt Lake's midfield, has proved critical to the team's postseason hopes. His skills allow him to adapt and prosper in a variety of roles, including attacking midfielder and winger. He understands that, while individual success is wonderful, the combined work of the team creates results.
